1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ is a fantastic robot vacuum that has many smart features that make it easier to maintain. The automatic bin emptying feature is one of the most useful features we've encountered in a robot, and it works well with both hard floors and carpets. The app will guide you through the entire process. It's also easy to use and set up. Another impressive feature is the ability to go back to the spot where it was when we tested it. It did this for 77 mins on one cleaning, before running out of battery.
Contrary to other robovacs we've test, the i3+ EVO has a self-emptying bin that dumps debris into an external dirt compartment on its charging base when it's full. The i3+ EVO can be prevented from overfilling thanks to a self-emptying container. However it still needs to be emptied manually at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dust bin can hold 2.4L which is enough to last four to five cleaning sessions.
Like the i7 uses state-ofthe-art floor-tracking sensors to create maps. It can also allow you to navigate through neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only store one map, whereas the i7 can store multiple. The i7 can also utilize its map to create no-go zones and virtual barriers, but the i3+ EVO is not able to do this.
Although the i3+ EVO is more effective in picking up debris on surfaces than the other robovacs we reviewed however, it's not the most effective for cleaning corners and edges. It's also more abrasive on furniture, despite being remarkably silent. It pulled chairs away from walls, and made some collisions with the sides of our test bed, and also was stuck to cords and toys during our testing.
2. Black & Decker Pro Q5
The Q5 Pro is an excellent choice for expanding your collection of robot vacuums, or just getting started. It features an elegant design with a powerful navigation system, as well as useful automation at a reasonable price. This is one of the first robots we've seen incorporate 3D mapping. This along with other advancements has helped it perform exceptionally well in our vacuuming tests and mopping tests. You can schedule cleanings and create no-go zones. You can also view the status of your battery. The app is easy to use, however it isn't compatible with Apple HomeKit. The feature is scheduled to be added in 2025. As of November 1, Apple has updated a footnote on its website to note that this feature is delayed until 2025. HomeKit is not compatible with other robots, but Siri Shortcuts are.
